Art Exhibition 2018

Students from Galway Schools Art Exhibition

The Galway branch of the Art teachers association of Ireland have organised an exhibition of students work which will have its official opening tomorrow,

Tuesday 17th april, at 6.30. All are welcome.

The exhibition is taking place in:

The long gallery, Center for Creative Arts and Media (CCAM),

Monivea Rd. (beside the education centre).

The schools taking part are:

  •  Presentation College Athenry,
  •  Coláiste Chroi Mhuire, An Spideal,
  •  Dunmore Community College,
  •  Coláiste Mhuire, Ballygar,
  •  Gort Community School,
  •  Coláiste na Coiribe, Galway,
  •  Móinín na gCiseach, Galway,
  •  St. Colmans College, Claremorris,
  •  Our Lady’s College, Galway,
  •  Árdscoil Mhuire, Ballinasloe,
  •  St Raphaels College, Loughrea,
  •  Coláiste Einde, Galway.

It is envisaged that this will become an annual event with a view to scaling the exhibition up for inclusion in Galway City of Culture 2020.

The students were given the theme ‘Sea-Change’ which art teachers and students alike were creatively free to interpret in whatever manner they chose. Everything from sea pollution to underwatersurrealism to ‘Sea change ‘ being a massive transformation or shift in thinking.

This exhibition will take the format of a large series of postcard sized artworks, hung in a fashion to create visual impact as a whole as well as individual creativity.
