Youthreach Festival 2018
Date: October 24th 2018
Location: National Sports Campus (NSC) in Blanchardstown.
2018 / 2019 is a very exciting year for Youthreach as the programme is 30 years old! In celebration of our 30 Year Anniversary, the NAYC are hosting a One-Of-A-Kind national Youthreach event in the National Sports Campus (NSC) in Blanchardstown. The event will bring together our learners and staff and invited guests from all over the country. The NSC have been hugely supportive and the plan for the day is to take full advantage of the location and the fact that it is our highly impressive national sports arena. We are hiring the full venue which gives us access to the actual indoor arena itself as well as a large Sports hall beside it and rooms on the balcony overlooking this hall which will be used for workshops.
YR FEST day will have two key elements:
The Sports Arena will be filled with sporting events; a combination of lots of different activities designed to give a taster to our learners. These will include everything from Rugby, Volleyball, hockey and gymnastics to dodgeball and tug of war! There will be a 360 degree stage in the middle of the arena which will be used for special guest presentations as well as the fantastic Rory’s Stories, Zumba and other entertainers to create a great atmosphere.
The Large Hall next door will be a more “creative” space. The area will be split in two; one half of the room will be a performance area with a stage and bleachers with seating for 580. This stage will have a schedule of events to include music performances from learners from a number of centres, an award winning YSI showcase from our Galway centre and some invited performers as well as some key note speakers and an amazing play. The other half of the hall will be an exhibition space where we will have stakeholders relevant to our young people. This area will be divided into four zones: Progression, Health & Well-being, Centre Showcase and possibly a dedicated ESF / EU Zone. Upstairs, there are a number of rooms which will play host to workshops for our learners. Exhibitors and workshops will include excellent partners and stakeholders like GAISCE, SpunOut, NYCI, SOLAS Apprenticeships, PLC Colleges, Irish Cancer Society, MICROSOFT and of course lots of our centres themselves!
We will have two MCs, Evanne Ní Chuillin as well as 2FMs Emma Power to really bring the whole event together and keep everyone engaged. We are also partnering with Ballyfermot College of Further Education who will be there on the day to capture the event on video and most importantly to provide a live feed of some of the performances and some live podcasts with speakers / guests which will be shown on the big screen in the sports arena.
It is set to be a fantastic day of celebration for our young people rooted in sport, activity, fun and a real focus on health and wellbeing! It was indeed a fantastic day and all our students were exhausted but very happy.

The Youthreach Flag for the Fest
Students with their art teacher spent many hours on the most wonderful flag that was displayed in the hall on the Youthreach Fest Day.
